Use this guide for decisions in combat, then keep the chosen talents, keybinds, macros, and live gear evidence connected in the tools below.

Overview

Discipline heals through damage. You ramp Atonement across the raid with Power Word: Radiance and Shield, then deal damage with Penance, Mind Blast, and Smite to heal everyone at once.

Patch 12.0.7Updated Jul 16, 2026

Strengths

  • Strong scripted raid healing via ramps
  • Deals real damage
  • Great utility (Pain Suppression, barriers)

Weaknesses

  • Ramp timing is a skill check
  • Weak reactive and spot healing
  • Mana pressure on unplanned damage

Stat Priority, Races & Consumables

Stat rankings, race notes, enchants, gems, and consumables in one place - the same character-prep flow players expect from modern class guides.

  1. 1.Item Level / Intellect
  2. 2.Haste
  3. 3.Critical Strike
  4. 4.Versatility
  5. 5.Mastery

Item level and Intellect are the first filter. Haste shortens application and ramp time; Critical Strike improves both damage and healing. Secondary stat value changes with your hero talents, trinkets, encounter cadence, and current gear, so use this as a starting point and validate close upgrades with your own sims or logs.

Races

Race choice

Racials are a small optimization. Pick utility racials for the content you play most, then prioritize gear, talents, and execution.

Haste

Speeds up casts, attacks, and resource generation, so your whole rotation flows faster and you fit more globals into every cooldown window.

Critical Strike

Chance to land a hit for roughly double value. Bursty and RNG-driven; strongest when the spec has effects that scale with or guarantee crits.

Mastery

A spec-specific multiplier - what it amplifies changes per spec, so hover it on your character sheet. Often your best or worst stat depending on build.

Versatility

A flat increase to all damage and healing done plus reduced damage taken. The safe, consistent, survivability-friendly stat.

Consumables

Flasks, food, potions, weapon oils, and runes for this build.

Secondary-stat enchants are not universal. They should move with your current gear, stat breakpoints, and the enemies you are facing in a raid boss, dungeon, 2v2, 3v3, or Blitz match. We will split these into boss-by-boss, dungeon-by-dungeon, and PvP bracket recommendations as the live gear model fills in.

Playstyle & Rotation

This is the practical priority list: how the spec plays moment to moment, when to spend, and where cooldowns belong.

Opener

4 steps
  1. 1Refresh Shadow Word: Pain before it would expire during the damage window
  2. 2Defensive Penance, then Void Shield (or Power Word: Shield), then Plea or Flash Heal to cover yourself
  3. 3Use Evangelism after this Atonement preparation, then cast Power Word: Radiance twice
  4. 4Follow with Shadow Word: Death, defensive Penance, Mind Blast, then Penance while Atonement healing is required

Major Cooldowns

4 steps
  • Evangelism extends an existing spread - it is not an Atonement applicator
  • Rapture protects targets before a dangerous hit or a period of movement
  • Pain Suppression is an external assignment, not only a personal emergency button
  • Power Word: Barrier is strongest where players can remain inside it for the damage event

Single-target priority

5 steps
  1. 1Keep Atonement on the tank via Power Word: Shield
  2. 2Keep Shadow Word: Pain applied
  3. 3Shadow Word: Death, then Mind Blast when Power of the Dark Side is not active
  4. 4Use defensive Penance, then Lightburst Holy Nova if talented, then Smite as filler
  5. 5Use Shadow Mend or Flash Heal deliberately for direct triage, not as the default Atonement rotation

AoE / multi-target priority

4 steps
  1. 1Build a short Atonement spread with Void Shield, Radiance, and manual applications before party damage
  2. 2For a full raid event, prepare the spread first and then use Evangelism to extend it
  3. 3Penance, Mind Blast, Shadow Word: Death, and Smite convert your damage into Atonement healing
  4. 4Use Ultimate Penitence after the prepared Radiance spread, not before it

Talents

Pick your hero tree by the fight’s damage profile - single-target on pure bosses, multi-target on cleave and add fights.

Single-target: Voidweaver

Voidweaver adds Entropic Rift and void damage for stronger single-target healing-through-damage.

  • Voidweaver hero tree
  • Stat priority: Intellect > Haste

Multi-target: Oracle

Oracle adds Premonition and Halo synergy for the biggest scripted raid ramps.

  • Oracle hero tree
  • Prioritize AoE and add-swap talents

Loadouts by Content

Talent focus and live gear for each type of content. Copy the picks into the talent calculator to build and share your tree - verified in-game import strings are added as they are theorycrafted, never guessed.

Raid - Oracle

The recommended raid starting point. Defensive Penance applies Atonement, Piety protects against waste, and Evangelism turns a prepared spread into a scheduled raid-healing window.

Mythic+ - Oracle

The stable key build. Keep Void Shield and Penance cycling through party damage, use short Atonement spreads before planned pulls, and move utility points for the dungeon rather than copying a raid tree unchanged.

Raid - Voidweaver

A viable alternative for encounters that reward planned Entropic Rift windows. Hold Mind Blast for meaningful Rift value and avoid sacrificing an imminent defensive Penance or lifesaving application window.

Secondary-stat enchants are flexible. They change with your current gear and the enemy profile in a specific raid boss, dungeon, 2v2, 3v3, or Blitz match. As the live model fills in, this page will show enchants and gear by boss, dungeon, and PvP bracket.

Equipment

Tier set notes, target gear, trinkets, embellishments, and boss-specific gear links.

Treat secondary-stat enchants as matchup-aware recommendations, not permanent rules. Your current gear, raid boss damage profile, dungeon pulls, and arena or Blitz enemies can change whether Haste, Mastery, Critical Strike, Versatility, avoidance, leech, or movement is the right enchant for that slot.

Gearing notes

Gear rule

Use the BiS tables as a target list, then prefer item level and the secondary stats shown in this guide.

Raid Encounter Gear

Retrieving verified gear from the current top parses. This refreshes automatically.

Mythic+ Dungeon Gear

Loading the verified live dungeon references.

Enchants

Choose enhancements after your equipment is settled. Secondary-stat enchant choices move with your current stat mix and the content you are preparing for.

Gems

Socket into the current stat priority, then re-check after major equipment swaps rather than treating a gem choice as permanent.

Embellishments

Crafted effects are capped at two equipped embellishments. Lock these in only after deciding which crafted slots survive your next raid or Mythic+ upgrades.

Best in Slot by Boss

Gear and talents change per fight. For each boss we surface the current #1 parse as the best-in-slot reference - open any boss to copy that player’s full gear from Warcraft Logs. The recommended hero tree follows the fight’s damage profile.

Utility & Defensives

The Priest toolkit, shared across every spec - a few entries are talent choices. Landing these on cue is what separates a good Discipline from a great one.

Mass Dispel and Power Infusion are premier raid utility every roster wants.

Interface & Macros

Start with Midnight’s built-in boss warnings, cooldown manager, damage meter, and raid frames. Then add only the interface pieces that make your decisions clearer.

Better Blizzplates - cleaner, threat-colored nameplates with cast bars and cooldown text - the nameplate upgrade nearly every top player runs.
OmniCD - party and enemy defensive/utility cooldown tracking - the biggest information edge the base UI still does not show.
Mythic Dungeon Tools - build and follow pull-by-pull Mythic+ routes.
Details! (optional) - deep damage/healing breakdowns and Warcraft Logs uploads beyond Midnight's built-in meter.
Cell (or VuhDo) - fast, click-cast raid frames built for healing.
Method Raid Tools - cooldown assignments, boss notes, and pull timers.

Tips & Tricks

  • Ramp Atonement before known damage; Radiance is an applicator, not a panic heal
  • Use Evangelism only after a full ramp
  • Weave Power Word: Shield or Void Shield after Penance to use Weal and Woe
  • Oracle is the stable default: use Penance defensively because it applies Atonement and supports Piety's overheal protection
  • Voidweaver needs planned Mind Blast and stationary Entropic Rift windows
  • Shadow Word: Death instantly frees a Polymorphed ally - any damage breaks the sheep, so a quick SW:D bails out a mis-sheeped or CC'd teammate

Common Mistakes

  • Ramping too late
  • Evangelism without a full Atonement spread
  • Casting Evangelism before the Atonement spread exists
  • Using Void Shield after Penance and wasting its setup value
  • Letting Shadow Word: Pain drop

FAQ

3 quick answers

When do I press Evangelism?

After you have prepared an Atonement spread, not as the first ramp button. Evangelism extends the Atonements already active; it does not create the spread for you.

Should Oracle Penance be offensive or defensive?

Use Oracle Penance defensively by default. It applies Atonement and is a reliable part of your healing setup; only depart from that when the immediate healing plan genuinely permits it.

Which trinket should I target first?

For raid, Vaelgor's Final Stare is the primary on-use because its cooldown naturally aligns with Evangelism. In Mythic+, prioritize Litany of Lightblind Wrath as the on-use option.
