The trove map: one a week, so get it right.
The item players call the trove map or delve map is officially the Trovehunter's Bounty. It guarantees a Hidden Trove in your next Tier 4+ delve, and at Tier 8 that trove pays a Hero-track piece - which is why it is the single most efficient item in early Season 2. You get exactly one a week across every source combined, so the order you do things in decides whether the map is worth anything at all.
How to get it
The cap is shared: a random drop on Tuesday consumes the week, and the quest map can no longer drop. Do the guaranteed quest first.
Guaranteed: the weekly quest
Complete "Purging the Vaults" on the Coiled Isle (new in Season 2). It also awards a Venom-Cursed Fragment - two Fragments buy one random Champion-track piece. Do this FIRST: the weekly cap is shared, so a random drop earlier in the week consumes it.
Guaranteed: summon Azta'rec yourself
Earn a Scalebound Herald's Flute by finishing "A Nightmarish Task" from Astalor Bloodsworn (three Nightmare Prey Hunts), or buy one for 5,000 Undercoin from Naleidea Rivergleam at the Delver's HQ in Silvermoon. Inside a delve, reach the checkpoint (the Empowered Restoration Stone), use the flute, and bring Azta'rec to half health - the gold pile he drops contains the Bounty.
The quest's reported side rewards (Remnants of Anguish, Voidlight Marl, Hero Mistcrests) come from a single source, so no quantities are stated here.
Random drop in delves, once a week
The Bounty can drop from delve content once per week, with the best odds from Azta'rec, the Season 2 delve nemesis in Venomfall Deeps on the Coiled Isle - bringing him to 50% health spawns his loot pile even without a flute.
Using it
- Use the map anywhere - it can be deciphered mid-delve, as long as it is before the final boss of the delve you are in.
- It guarantees a Hidden Trove at the end of the NEXT Tier 4+ delve you complete.
- The trove's loot scales with the tier of the delve you COMPLETE, not where the map dropped - so hold it for a Tier 8+ Bountiful run.

Gear caps at Tier 8 - Tiers 9-11 improve crests, not the item. A smooth Tier 8 and a painful Tier 10 pay the same piece.
Spending the map well
Current for Midnight Season 2 (patch 12.1.0). The exact random drop rate, whether the random drop needs a Bountiful delve, and whether an unused map survives the weekly reset are not reliably published, so nobody can tell you what they are yet.
