Midnight patch 12.1.5 · announced 2026-09-03

The Promise of Tomorrow is the patch between Ula'tek and Eclipse

The mid-season patch between Curse of Ula'tek and Eclipse. A story campaign against the C'Thraxxi general Kith'ix, a one-boss raid to finish him, a new instance type called Labyrinths, an hourly outdoor invasion, and a currency that keeps Season 2 gear moving.

The short answer

One boss, one Labyrinth, one invasion an hour

A campaign that ends on Kith'ix in a one-encounter raid, a new instance type that starts with Kindo'jan, an outdoor invasion that fires for ten minutes every hour, and Venomstones to keep upgrading the gear you already have. It is on the PTR and undated; the game is on 12.1.0, Midnight Season 2, and The Venomous Abyss is still the raid.

Everything 12.1.5 adds

Five of these come straight from Blizzard's 12.1.5 overview. The release week is an outlet's estimate and is tagged as one.

  • The Promise of Tomorrow campaign

Runs through Quel'thalas, Zul'Aman and the Coiled Isle against Kith'ix, a C'Thraxxi general. It continues the Season 2 story rather than starting a new one.

  • The Unbinding of Kith'ix, a single-boss raid

blizzard post. Transcribed from an official Blizzard article. Names and numbers are theirs.

One encounter beneath the Vaults of Ula'tek, with Lady Liadrin fighting alongside you. Difficulties and lockout were not spelled out in the overview.

  • Labyrinths, starting with Kindo'jan

blizzard post. Transcribed from an official Blizzard article. Names and numbers are theirs.

A new instance type Blizzard describes as sprawling, mega-dungeon-like. The first is Kindo'jan, an ancient Amani funeral complex, with Valeera Sanguinar as your guide, and progress can be done in one sitting or piecemeal.

  • The Aqir Invasion, ten minutes every hour

blizzard post. Transcribed from an official Blizzard article. Names and numbers are theirs.

Zone-wide public events in Eversong or Zul'Aman with eight possible affixes and six scenario types, three combat and three not.

  • Ascendant Venomstones replace Voidcores

Ten stones boost one Season 2 weapon, trinket or necklace. Orin Straylight in Silvermoon City handles the exchange.

  • Expected around early October

press estimate. Reported by an outlet on its own, such as a datamined patch number or a release-date guess. No panel showed it and no Blizzard post confirms it.

Outlets estimate an October 6 launch from Blizzard's usual eight-week cadence. Blizzard has given no date; treat the week as a guess.

What is worth doing before it lands

  • Spend your Voidcores

Blizzard says Venomstones replace Ascendant Voidcores. The overview does not say what happens to unspent ones, so treat a full pouch as a deadline rather than a bank.

  • Finish the Ula'tek campaign

The Promise of Tomorrow continues the Season 2 story. A character that has not cleared the Curse of Ula'tek chapters will be gated behind them first.

  • Keep a weapon, trinket and neck worth boosting

Venomstones touch exactly those three slots. The pieces you would spend ten stones on are the ones to have in hand on patch day.

  • Do not wait for Season 3 here

The keystone pool, item level tracks and the raid tier do not turn over in 12.1.5. That happens with Eclipse.
