Eclipse ends Midnight inside the worldcore
Xal'atath reaches the thing she has been walking toward since The War Within: the Worldsoul itself. Eclipse is the last major content update Midnight gets, and it hands the Worldsoul Saga to The Last Titan.
The short answer
Eight bosses, one dagger, three new Paladin races
The Worldcore is an eight-boss raid that finishes on Xal'atath. Clearing it opens the questline for Midnight's Edge, a caster dagger and the expansion's first legendary. Season 3 runs an eight-key Mythic+ pool built around the new three-boss dungeon Thraegar's Stand. None of it is live: the game is on 12.1.0, Midnight Season 2, and The Venomous Abyss is still the raid.
Everything Eclipse adds
Blizzard published most of this in its Midnight panel recap. The two entries tagged as panel reporting were shown on stage without making it into an article, so they can still move.
The Worldcore, eight bosses
blizzard post. Transcribed from an official Blizzard article. Names and numbers are theirs.A raid inside the worldcore that mixes void enemies, Titan constructs and living Azerite before it puts you in front of Xal'atath. Eight encounters, the same size as The Venomous Abyss.
Thraegar's Stand, three bosses
blizzard post. Transcribed from an official Blizzard article. Names and numbers are theirs.A new dungeon. The excavation foremen Cragcleaver and Foreman Sullk hold the first encounter between them, then the azerite elemental Monokk, then a titan construct called Stenvarg the Inevitable.
Midnight's Edge brings legendaries back
blizzard post. Transcribed from an official Blizzard article. Names and numbers are theirs.A caster dagger, and the first legendary weapon of the expansion. Its questline opens by clearing The Worldcore, so the raid gates it rather than a separate grind.
The Mantle Vault
blizzard post. Transcribed from an official Blizzard article. Names and numbers are theirs. The patch zone, full of stone worms and crystalline elementals, sitting above the worldcore the raid descends into.
Forsaken, Night Elf and Troll Paladins
blizzard post. Transcribed from an official Blizzard article. Names and numbers are theirs.Three races gain the class. Pre-12.2 guides that describe the Paladin race list as closed are wrong from the day Eclipse lands.
Season 3 starts shortly after the patch
blizzard post. Transcribed from an official Blizzard article. Names and numbers are theirs.A new Mythic+ pool of eight keys, a new Delve nemesis, and the raid on its own schedule. Season 2 item level tracks stop being the ceiling.
The Gearhold and Radiant Screams
panel report. Shown at the BlizzCon 2026 panels and reported by outlets, but not yet written into a Blizzard post. Treat it as provisional.A lair called The Gearhold and zone-wide events called Radiant Screams were shown on stage. Neither has turned up in a Blizzard post yet, so treat the names as provisional.
Midnight's final major patch
panel report. Shown at the BlizzCon 2026 panels and reported by outlets, but not yet written into a Blizzard post. Treat it as provisional.Reported out of the panels as the last content update before the next expansion. Blizzard's own wording is only that Eclipse is the next one.
The Season 3 keystone rotation
Eight dungeons, one of them brand new and five pulled out of older expansions. Worth reading now if you route: five of these have existed for years, so the pulls you already know carry over.
| Dungeon | First appeared in |
|---|---|
| Thraegar's Stand | New in 12.2 |
| Magisters' Terrace | The Burning Crusade |
| Maisara Cavern | Midnight |
| The Underrot | Battle for Azeroth |
| Iron Docks | Warlords of Draenor |
| Sanguine Depths | Shadowlands |
| The Stonecore | Cataclysm |
| Uldaman: Legacy of Tyr | Dragonflight |
Timers, affixes and item level tracks for these keys are not published yet. The live timer stays on the Season 2 pool until Eclipse ships.
What is worth doing before it lands
Finish the tier you are in
A new raid resets the gear race. Season 2 mounts, titles and the Venomous Abyss achievements stop being obtainable at the current difficulty once the season turns.
Keep a caster geared
Midnight's Edge is a caster dagger. If the legendary is something you want early, the character that clears The Worldcore first should be one that can use it.
Bank the old keys
Five of the eight Season 3 dungeons are returning ones. Running them now on any difficulty is cheap route practice that does not expire with the season.
Park a Paladin plan
Forsaken, Night Elf and Troll Paladins arrive with the patch. Race changes and new characters both become options that do not exist today.
