Midnight Season 2 Mythic+ encounter guide

Lightwarden Ruia

Ruia swaps between Moonkin form, where the tank eats interruptible Warden's Wrath bolts, and Bear form, where Pulverizing Strikes fires locked-on cones at three players and Grievous Thrash applies a stacking bleed that only ends when the target reaches full health. At 40 percent he channels Spirits of the Vale and loops every ability on an 8 second cycle until he dies, so groups that reach the execute without cooldowns lose the key to overlapping bleeds and cones.

The key group plan

Priorities before the pull

  • Kick Warden's Wrath on cooldown during Moonkin form; it is the fight's only interrupt and every kick is tank damage that never happened.
  • Spread and hold still for Pulverizing Strikes, because the cones lock on and the real danger is clipping a teammate with your cone while Pulverized doubles the damage.
  • Heal to full after every Grievous Thrash since full health is the only way the bleed ends.
  • Save bloodlust and two minute cooldowns for 40 percent and burn through Spirits of the Vale before the overlapping loops outscale your healer.

Kick list: Warden's Wrath

Ability reference

The casts that matter in keys

Warden's Wrath

Warden's Wrath

KICK

In Moonkin form Ruia replaces his melee swings with roughly 48k Nature bolts at the tank, and the cast is interruptible.

Rotate kicks on Warden's Wrath for the entire Moonkin phase, and the tank uses a defensive for any bolt that slips through the rotation.

Lightfire

Lightfire

A beam burns a player with a 6 second Radiant DoT, and when it expires Lightfire Beams erupt at that player's location, ticking roughly 58k per second and silencing anyone inside for 6 seconds.

The afflicted player walks to the edge of the room and drops the beams away from the group, and nobody ever stands in the beams because the silence removes your kicks and healing.

Lightfall

Lightfall

Waves of falling Light energy hammer the arena, damaging anyone within 4 yards of each impact.

Keep moving through the gaps between impacts and avoid dodging into dropped Lightfire Beams or into a teammate's cone.

Pulverizing Strikes

Pulverizing Strikes

In Bear form Ruia marks several players and launches a frontal cone wave at each of them every 2 seconds for 6 seconds, and each hit applies Pulverized, doubling the damage of further cone hits for 6 seconds.

Marked players spread and stand completely still, because the cones lock onto you and cannot be dodged; the only real mistake is letting two cones cross over one player.

Grievous Thrash

Grievous Thrash

Ruia thrashes the party for roughly 145k Physical damage and applies a stacking bleed of about 19k per second that runs for 40 seconds or until the target is healed to full health.

The healer tops every bar immediately after each Thrash, and players contribute healthstones, potions, and self-healing to reach full health and clear their own bleed.

Spirits of the Vale

Spirits of the Vale

At 40 percent health Ruia returns to Haranir form and casts Lightfire, Lightfall, Pulverizing Strikes, and Grievous Thrash together every 8 seconds until he is dead.

Bank bloodlust and every major cooldown for this execute, keep bleeds cleared between loops, and kill him before the third cycle stacks the overlaps beyond healing.

Role calls

What each role owns

Tanks

Cover the Warden's Wrath casts that get past the kick rotation with defensives, and expect harder melee in Bear form because Mangling Claws doubles his swing damage.

Healers

Your win condition is full health bars: burst everyone to full after each Grievous Thrash to delete the bleeds, and pre-plan which cooldown covers each Spirits of the Vale loop.

DPS

Drop Lightfire beams at the room edge, keep your cone away from teammates, and hold your burst window for the 40 percent execute.

Everyone

Never stand in Lightfire Beams; the 6 second silence removes interrupts and healing at exactly the moment the fight needs them.

Tyrannical: The Spirits of the Vale execute is the entire fight: Grievous Thrash bleeds stack faster than any healer can clear while cone waves and Lightfall keep landing, so plan to enter 40 percent with bloodlust, every cooldown, and full health, and finish him within two or three loops.

Pull-time callouts

Say these before the pull

  • Cones lock on, so spread and hold still.
  • Heal to full or the Thrash bleed keeps ticking for 40 seconds.
  • Drop Lightfire at the edge; the beams silence.
  • Lust at 40 percent and end the fight fast.
