Midnight Season 2 Mythic+ encounter guide

The Hoardmonger

The Hoardmonger permanently unlocks a new ability at 90, 70, and 40 percent health in Mythic+, so the final phase runs extra mushrooms, Bonespike Slam, and Hearty Bellow all at once. Keys die to unsoaked Rotten Mushrooms, because a single Putrid Burst covers the entire group in stacking Toxic Spores.

The key group plan

Priorities before the pull

  • Soak every Rotten Mushroom during Spoiled Supplies, because one Putrid Burst usually ends the key.
  • Split Toxic Spores stacks across the whole group and dispel Poison from whoever is highest.
  • Track the 90, 70, and 40 percent unlocks and save lust plus healing cooldowns for the final phase, when all three empowerments are active.

The casts that matter in keys

Resourceful Measures

Resourceful Measures

At 90, 70, and 40 percent health the boss gathers from the nearest resource pile and unlocks Overflowing Supplies, Bonespike Slam, or Hearty Bellow. In Mythic+ every unlocked ability is permanent, so the empowerments stack up as the fight goes on.

Expect the fight to escalate at each threshold. Hold group cooldowns and lust for the final phase, when all three empowerments overlap.

Spoiled Supplies

Spoiled Supplies

At 100 energy the boss tosses rotten food for 7 seconds, growing Rotten Mushrooms around the arena. Each mushroom detonates in a Putrid Burst 12 seconds after it grows, hitting the whole group and applying Toxic Spores to everyone, and the Overflowing Supplies empowerment adds even more mushrooms.

Spread out and touch every mushroom before it detonates. Each soak applies one stack of Toxic Spores, so split the soaks across the group instead of letting one player absorb them all.

Toxic Spores

Toxic Spores

DISPEL: POISON

Soaking a mushroom applies a stacking Nature damage over time effect that ticks every 2 seconds for 12 seconds.

Healers cleanse it as a Poison, starting with whoever carries the most stacks. Soakers should cap themselves at two or three stacks and let teammates take the rest.

Earthshatter Slam

Earthshatter Slam

The boss slams the ground and deals massive Nature damage to every player caught in a frontal cone.

Watch the boss facing and sidestep the cone every time it starts. Only the tank should ever stand in front of the boss.

Bonespike Slam

Bonespike Slam

The bone-pile empowerment replaces Earthshatter Slam with a cone that also litters the ground with bone spikes for 45 seconds. Touching the spikes deals heavy ticking Physical damage and slows movement by 50 percent.

The tank baits this cone toward the edge of the room, so the spikes never choke the space the group needs for mushroom soaks.

Ravenous Bellow

Ravenous Bellow

The boss roars, hitting all players for heavy Physical damage plus an armor-ignoring damage over time effect for 10 seconds. The Hearty Bellow empowerment adds a knockback to the same roar.

Call a group healing cooldown for every Bellow. Once Hearty Bellow is unlocked, position away from bone spikes and mushrooms before the knockback lands.

Role calls

What each role owns

Tanks

Face the boss away from the group at all times, bait Bonespike Slam toward the walls, and soak spare mushrooms with mitigation up, since you are the most durable soaker.

Healers

Plan a healing cooldown for every Ravenous or Hearty Bellow, then work Poison dispels on Toxic Spores in descending stack order.

DPS

Sidestep every frontal cone and take your share of mushroom soaks even when it costs uptime, because the burst is far worse than the soak.

Everyone

Before each Spoiled Supplies, note where bone spikes sit so you have a clean path to your mushroom.

Tyrannical: The sub-40 percent phase is a long overlap of all three empowerments. Hold lust or a major healing cooldown for it, and treat every unsoaked mushroom as lethal from the first cast.

Pull-time callouts

Say these before the pull

  • Mushrooms detonate 12 seconds after they grow, so assign soaks early.
  • Bellow damage ignores armor, which means the tank needs external help too.
  • In Mythic+ the boss keeps every unlocked ability for the rest of the fight.
  • The Hearty Bellow knockback can throw you into bone spikes, so keep clear ground behind you.
