Midnight Season 2 Mythic+ encounter guide

Charonus

Charonus is a coordination fight where each player must drag their fixating Gravitic Orb into an Unstable Singularity to destroy it while dodging Cosmic Crash comets and Void Cascade streams. Keys die here to stacking Condensed Mass on players who clear their orb too slowly, and to anyone who gets pulled inside a singularity and loses 15 seconds to Atomized.

The key group plan

Priorities before the pull

  • Before each Gravitic Orbs cast, ping and claim one singularity per targeted player so nobody crosses the room or fights over the same star.
  • The tank parks Charonus in the middle of the singularity triangle so every orb carrier has a short walk and melee never loses uptime.
  • There are no interrupts on this boss, so bring your kicks to the Devouring Brutalizer packs beforehand and kill the mob it tries to Devour so it never heals to half.
Ability reference

The casts that matter in keys

Unstable Singularity

Unstable Singularity

Charonus creates multiple singularities near himself that tick Shadow damage and slowly drag players toward their centers, and anyone pulled fully inside is Atomized and cannot attack or use abilities for 15 seconds.

Pre-assign a singularity to each orb carrier using map pings, stand near your star rather than inside it, and keep strafing against the pull so you are never dragged over the threshold.

Gravitic Orbs

Gravitic Orbs

Charonus summons a seeking Gravitic Orb on players, and each orb chases its target while stacking Condensed Mass until it is destroyed by moving within 6 yards of an Unstable Singularity.

Walk your orb straight to your assigned singularity the moment the cast resolves, and pre-position next to a star before the cast so the clear takes two seconds instead of ten.

Condensed Mass

Condensed Mass

While a Gravitic Orb fixates you it applies Condensed Mass every second, dealing Shadow damage and stacking a movement speed reduction that makes reaching a singularity progressively harder.

Use a movement ability or a freedom effect early rather than late, because the stacking slow snowballs and a player above roughly ten stacks needs external healing and a sprint to survive the trip.

Cosmic Crash

Cosmic Crash

Charonus crashes void comets onto every player's position, hitting anyone within 8 yards of each impact for Shadow damage plus a 20 second damage over time effect and a knockback.

Spread at least 8 yards apart whenever this is coming so nobody clips a teammate's comet, and make sure the knockback cannot push you into a singularity.

Void Cascade

Void Cascade

In Mythic+ Charonus projects a stream of condensed cosmic power at a single player, and anyone it touches takes very heavy Shadow damage and is knocked away.

If you are the target, keep running around the outside of the boss for the full duration and never lead the stream through your teammates or across a singularity.

Dark Waves

Dark Waves

Charonus sends a wave of dark energy in a frontal line that hits players for very heavy Shadow damage, functioning as his tank buster.

Tanks use active mitigation for every wave and aim it into empty space, and the rest of the group never stands on the tank's side of the boss.

Role calls

What each role owns

Tanks

Hold the boss centered between the singularities, mitigate every Dark Waves and face it away from the group, and resist repositioning while orbs are being cleared.

Healers

Spot-heal orb carriers as their Condensed Mass stacks climb, keep the Cosmic Crash damage over time effects rolling off with steady healing, and save an external for anyone who claims their orb late.

DPS

Pre-position beside a singularity before each Gravitic Orbs cast, clear your orb immediately, and get straight back to the boss because this fight is long when the group plays it passively.

Everyone

Fight the singularity pull at all times, because an Atomized player is out of the fight for 15 seconds and that is usually the difference between timing and bricking the key.

Tyrannical: The Condensed Mass ticks outpace passive healing after only a few stacks, so orb clears must be immediate and pre-positioned, and the Cosmic Crash damage over time on multiple players plus a buffed Dark Waves means the healer needs a planned cooldown rotation rather than reactive triage.

Pull-time callouts

Say these before the pull

  • Singularities up - claim your star with a ping, stand near it, not in it.
  • Orbs out - walk them in now, stacks ramp the longer you hold.
  • Cosmic Crash - spread 8 yards, watch the knockback direction.
  • Cascade target, run the wall; tank, wave incoming, aim it out.
