Midnight Season 2 Mythic+ encounter guide

Atroxus

Atroxus is an add-priority fight in Mythic+ where every Monstrous Roar deals armor-ignoring group damage and wakes a Toxic Creeper whose Toxic Aura pulses party-wide Nature damage until it dies. Keys fall apart when the creeper lives too long, when the tank eats a Sickening Bite stack, or when players fight inside Poison Pools and hand the healer a fight-long Nature damage triage.

The key group plan

Priorities before the pull

  • The Toxic Creeper is kill priority one every single time it spawns, because its Toxic Aura pulses party-wide damage from anywhere in the room until it is dead.
  • The tank drags the creeper next to Atroxus while kiting it, so every DPS can two-target cleave without ever letting it land a Sickening Bite.
  • Nothing on the boss can be kicked, so save interrupts for the trash beforehand, especially Mad Shriek from Killvore Screamers and the Brutal Overseer's shield event.

The casts that matter in keys

Monstrous Roar

Monstrous Roar

Atroxus roars, hitting every player with Physical damage that ignores armor, and the roar agitates a nearby poison pool so a Toxic Creeper emerges and fixates a player.

Treat every roar as a scripted damage event with a creeper attached, so pre-heal the group, then immediately swap all damage to the Toxic Creeper the moment it spawns.

Toxic Aura

Toxic Aura

In Mythic+ the Toxic Creeper radiates a toxic cloud that ticks Nature damage on players within 100 yards every half second for as long as it lives.

Kill the creeper as the absolute damage priority and have the healer commit a cooldown to each spawn, because there is no outranging a 100 yard aura and the ticks stack up fast.

Sickening Bite

Sickening Bite

The Toxic Creeper's bite makes its victim suffer 50 percent increased Nature damage for 5 minutes, and the effect stacks for the rest of the fight.

The fixated player and especially the tank must kite the creeper and never let it land a melee hit, because one stack makes every other ability on this fight hit half again as hard.

Poison Splash

Poison Splash

Atroxus splashes poison globs around himself, hitting anyone struck for heavy Nature damage plus a damage over time effect, and each impact leaves a Poison Pool for one minute that applies Mind-Numbing Poison.

Dodge the falling globs during the channel and steer the fight away from the pools afterward, since the room shrinks each time and standing in a pool bleeds your Haste and your health at once.

Mind-Numbing Poison

Mind-Numbing Poison

DISPEL: POISON

Standing in a Poison Pool numbs the player, reducing their Haste by 30 percent for 5 seconds on top of the pool's ticking Nature damage.

Do not stand in pools in the first place, and if someone does clip one, a Poison dispel removes the Haste drain so throughput does not collapse during a creeper burn.

Noxious Breath

Noxious Breath

Atroxus breathes noxious fumes in a frontal cone, hitting anyone struck for extremely heavy Nature damage.

The tank faces the boss away from the group at all times and everyone else stays strictly behind or beside him, because this breath will one-shot squishier players on higher keys.

Hulking Claw

Hulking Claw

DISPEL: POISON

Atroxus delivers a massive Nature damage blow to the tank that leaves an additional Nature damage over time effect running for 10 seconds.

Tanks use active mitigation before each claw, and the healer dispels or aggressively heals the follow-up poison so it never overlaps a Monstrous Roar spawn window.

Role calls

What each role owns

Tanks

Face Noxious Breath away from the group, mitigate every Hulking Claw, and when the creeper fixates you, kite it near the boss without ever letting it melee you, since a Sickening Bite stack lasts five minutes.

Healers

Bank a healing cooldown for each Monstrous Roar and the Toxic Aura window that follows, dispel poison effects freely, and pre-position so pool spawns never cut you off from the tank.

DPS

Swap to the Toxic Creeper instantly on spawn and hold burst cooldowns for those windows, because creeper uptime is the single stat that decides whether this fight is healable.

Everyone

Keep the arena clean by baiting Poison Splash globs toward the edges, because every pool lives for a full minute and the fight loses floor space with each set.

Tyrannical: The Toxic Creeper's larger health pool means Toxic Aura runs several extra pulses per spawn, so treat each creeper like a mini burn phase with dedicated cooldowns, and a tank who takes even one Sickening Bite stack will likely die to the next Hulking Claw plus aura overlap.

Pull-time callouts

Say these before the pull

  • Roar incoming - group damage, then everyone on the creeper.
  • Creeper up - tank kites it to the boss, do not let it bite anyone.
  • Splash - dodge the globs and drop pools on the edge of the room.
  • Breath and claw - boss faced away, tank mitigates, dispel the poison after.
