Chimaerus, the Undreamt God

Chimaerus is a single-target damage race across one repeating three-head cycle. Keep moving to shed Drowse, resolve each head's signature - look away from Dread Gaze, kite Fevered Pursuit along the rim, rotate with Oblivion Breath - and kill the boss before Stirring from each Restless Awakening outruns your healers.

Before the pull

Set the encounter assignments before pull

  • Use Bloodlust or Heroism on the pull. Stirring is permanent and stacks every cycle, so no later window beats the opener.
  • Agree on one kite direction for Fevered Pursuit - counterclockwise is standard - so the pursuit lane is always predictable and always empty.
  • Plan one raid healing cooldown per Restless Awakening and rotate them; the burst grows with every Stirring stack.
  • Bank movement tools and instant casts for the Oblivion head. The beam accelerates on Mythic, and dead globals in a damage race are the same as deaths.
Fight flow

Resolve the encounter in this order

  1. 01

    Settle the opening lap

Tanks hold Chimaerus near the center so the rim kite lane and beam lanes stay open. Ranged form a loose ring and never stand flat-footed - Somnial Toll ticks the whole fight and Dreammist creeps in from the edges.

  2. 02

    Break the Rake combo

Chimeric Rake is a three-strike tank combo. The active tank uses a major defensive on the third strike, then swaps and plays safe while Rending Dream bleeds out.

  3. 03

    Look away from Dread Gaze

When the Dread head inhales, face away until the gaze resolves. Keep shuffling out of Creeping Dreammist while turned - Drowse stacks whenever you stand still in it.

  4. 04

    Kite Fevered Pursuit

The fixated player runs the agreed rim direction at full speed; Chimaerus tramples anything in the path. Everyone else stays off the lane and keeps damage rolling - the race does not pause for the chase.

  5. 05

    Rotate with Oblivion Breath

The beam sweeps one direction around the arena. Move with the sweep, never against it, and route around Rift Tears - falling through one costs you the vulnerability debuff and your uptime.

  6. 06

    Survive Restless Awakening

At the end of each cycle, stack for the covered burst. Chimaerus gains a Stirring stack, everything speeds up, and the cycle repeats. Reset positions immediately - the next Rake combo comes faster.

Mechanics

What each mechanic asks of you

Chimeric Rake and Rending Dream

Tanks

Defensive on the third strike of every combo, swap after the combo ends, and never take a combo while still bleeding.

Failure: A third strike without mitigation, or a combo taken through Rending Dream, is a dead tank mid-race.

Drowse and Deep Slumber

Everyone

Movement sheds Drowse stacks; standing in Dreammist builds them. Keep a lazy shuffle going even during single-target uptime.

Failure: Five stacks is Deep Slumber - an eight-second nap that eats your damage and usually the next mechanic too.

Dread Gaze

Everyone

Face directly away the moment the Dread head inhales. Melee turn out from the boss; do not camera-cheat it.

Failure: Meeting the gaze fears you across Dreammist, which stacks Drowse into Deep Slumber while you are not in control.

Fevered Pursuit

Fixated player and raid

The fixate runs the agreed rim direction with a speed tool. The raid holds the inside of the arena and leaves the lane empty.

Failure: Anyone clipped by Trampling Fury is knocked flying, and a slow kiter turns the chase into a raid-wide collision.

Oblivion Breath and Rift Tears

Everyone

Read the sweep direction early and rotate with it. Track where Rift Tears opened so your escape route is never a hole.

Failure: Running against the sweep or backpedaling into a Rift Tear removes you from the fight during its heaviest movement window.

Restless Awakening and Stirring

Healers and raid

Stack for the assigned healing cooldown at every cycle end, then respect that everything afterward is faster and harder.

Failure: An uncovered Awakening at two or more Stirring stacks kills the players already carrying Drowse and bleed damage.

Somnial TollConstant

A rolling raid-wide pulse throughout the fight that scales with Stirring.

Raid response: Heal it with throughput, not cooldowns. Its growth is the reason the fight is a race.

Chimeric RakeTank combo

Three escalating strikes on the active tank; the third hits hardest and applies Rending Dream.

Raid response: Major defensive on strike three, swap after the combo, bleed out safely off the boss.

  • Rending Dream: A heavy bleed left by the third strike of the combo.
Dread GazeHead of Dread

The Dread head fixes its stare on the raid; anyone facing it is feared.

Raid response: Turn your character fully away for the resolve, then snap back to the boss.

Creeping DreammistHead of Dread

Mist spreads inward from the arena edges and lingers through the cycle.

Raid response: Fight near its inner border and keep moving whenever you are inside it.

  • Drowse: Stacking slow applied while standing still in Dreammist. Movement removes stacks.
  • Deep Slumber: At five Drowse stacks you sleep for eight seconds, unable to act.
Fevered PursuitHead of Fury

Chimaerus fixates one player and charges after them for the duration.

Raid response: Kite along the rim in the agreed direction with a movement ability. The raid clears the lane and keeps hitting the boss.

  • Trampling Fury: Heavy damage and a long knock to anyone in the pursuit path.
Oblivion BreathHead of Oblivion

A sweeping beam that rotates around the arena in one direction.

Raid response: Move with the sweep and pre-plan the route around open Rift Tears.

Rift TearsHead of Oblivion

Holes torn in the dreamscape floor; falling through one deals heavy damage and returns you with increased damage taken.

Raid response: Treat every tear as lethal terrain. Call new tears so nobody routes through them during the beam.

A raid-wide burst as all three heads shriek together and Chimaerus stirs.

Raid response: Stack for the rotation's healing cooldown, then immediately reset for the faster cycle.

StirringPermanent ramp

Each Awakening permanently increases Chimaerus's damage and speed.

Raid response: This is the enrage in slow motion. Front-load damage and never waste a movement phase standing still.

Role plan

Your job in the pull

Tanks

Own the combo cadence: defensive on strike three, swap after every combo, and steer the boss so the breath origin and pursuit lane stay predictable. A repositioned boss mid-cycle wastes raid uptime.

Healers

Triage Rending Dream and the Awakening windows, and keep your own feet moving - a slept healer is the most expensive nap in the raid. Rotate raid cooldowns per Awakening rather than stacking them early.

Melee DPS

Hug the boss's flank away from the beam start and shuffle constantly for Drowse. During Fevered Pursuit, chase the boss along the inside of the lane rather than waiting for it to come back.

Ranged DPS

Hold the inner ring, keep casting through the shuffle, and call Rift Tears as they open. Your uptime through the movement heads is the difference between two Stirring stacks and four.

Everyone

This is a race you lose standing still twice: once to Drowse, once to the meter. Every mechanic has a pre-planned route - use it and keep hitting the boss.
