Midnight Season 1 encounter guide

Rotmire

Rotmire is a fungal control fight in a shrinking bog. Manage Creeping Rot with called dispels, plant Spore Clouds on the assigned markers so Shieldcaps grow where you need them, kill every Mirebound Shambler through its Feast of Decay, and hide the raid behind grown caps for each Deathbloom before the Mire swallows the platform.

Before the pull

Set the encounter assignments before pull

  • Mark the Shieldcap growth spots on dry ground before the pull and assign each Spore Cloud marker to specific carriers. A cloud dropped in a Rotpool grows a hostile Blighted Cap instead of cover.
  • Agree that Creeping Rot is dispelled only on call and only away from the raid - every dispel triggers a Rotburst splash around the target.
  • Set a strict interrupt order for Feast of Decay. Every completed tick heals Rotmire, and a full channel also empowers its next Deathbloom.
  • Use Bloodlust or Heroism on the pull. The Mire rises after every Deathbloom, so early boss damage is worth more than any later window.
Fight flow

Resolve the encounter in this order

  1. 01

    Spread for the Rot

Hold a loose spread from the start. Creeping Rot jumps to nearby players, so infected players step out, wait for the dispel call, and only then get cleansed - the Rotburst lands where they are standing.

  2. 02

Tank the breath and the Smash

Keep Miasma Breath faced out of the raid at all times. Rotclaw Smash applies Septic Wound; swap at two stacks and let the absorb be healed off before taking the boss back.

  3. 03

    Plant the Spore Clouds

Marked carriers walk their cloud to the assigned marker and drop it on dry ground. Each cloud roots a Shieldcap that the raid will live behind at Deathbloom - delivery comes before damage.

  4. 04

    Clear the Sporelings

Sporelings hatch from planted clouds and claw toward the nearest player. The off-tank gathers them onto the melee stack and the raid cleaves them down before the next Shambler rises.

  5. 05

    Break the Feast

A Mirebound Shambler rises from the largest Rotpool and channels Feast of Decay. The first assigned kick stops it instantly, then the whole raid swaps - the Shambler is the priority target until it dies.

  6. 06

    Hide from Deathbloom

At full energy Rotmire channels Deathbloom, a lethal arena-wide burst. Split behind the grown Shieldcaps - on Mythic each cap covers only five players - then replant immediately, because used caps wither and the Mire rises.

Mechanics

What each mechanic asks of you

Creeping Rot and Rotburst

Healers and affected players

Infected players walk clear first; dispellers cleanse on call only. Track who is next so Rot never sits through a Deathbloom.

Failure: A reflex dispel in the stack splashes Rotburst through the raid, and undispelled Rot jumps until half the roster is ticking.

Rotclaw Smash and Septic Wound

Tanks

Swap at two Septic Wound stacks and stay out of melee until the healing absorb is cleared. Breath never turns toward the raid mid-swap.

Failure: A three-stack tank cannot be healed through the next Smash, and a lazy swap angle catches the melee in Miasma Breath.

Spore Cloud and Shieldcap

Marked players

Deliver the cloud to your marker on dry ground, every time, even at the cost of a damage window. The caps are the raid's only Deathbloom cover.

Failure: A cloud dropped short grows nothing - or grows a Blighted Cap in a pool - and someone's Deathbloom group has no wall to stand behind.

Sporelings

Off-tank and DPS

Gather them on the melee stack and cleave them down between boss globals. They are small individually and lethal in a pile.

Failure: Ignored Sporelings gnaw through healers during the Shambler swap, exactly when healing is already stretched.

Mirebound Shambler and Feast of Decay

Interrupters and DPS

First kick in the order stops the channel on spawn; the raid hard-swaps and kills it where it stands. It re-channels, so the kick order keeps rotating.

Failure: Every completed Feast tick heals Rotmire, and a Shambler alive at Deathbloom empowers the burst past what the caps can cover.

Deathbloom and the rising Mire

Everyone

Know your cap group before the pull, get behind the cap early, and stay until the channel ends. Afterward, replant and re-mark the shrinking floor.

Failure: A player caught in the open dies outright, and an overcrowded cap on Mythic fails everyone behind it.

Creeping RotConstant

A spreading disease that ticks Nature damage and jumps to players within a few yards.

Raid response: Spread loosely, step out when infected, and take the dispel away from the raid on call.

  • Rotburst: Every dispel of Creeping Rot detonates a damage splash around the target.

A crushing tank strike that applies stacking Septic Wound.

Raid response: Swap at two stacks; the wounded tank stays clear until healers burn through the absorb.

  • Septic Wound: Stacking healing absorb and Nature damage over time on the struck tank.
Miasma BreathTank frontal

A wide poison cone breathed at the current tank on a steady timer.

Raid response: Face it out of the raid permanently. Swaps happen between breaths, never during the cast.

Spore CloudPlacement

Marked players carry a spore cloud that settles where they stand, rooting a Shieldcap on dry ground.

Raid response: Deliver to the assigned marker before doing anything else. Placement is the raid's Deathbloom survival.

  • Shieldcap: A barrier mushroom that blocks Deathbloom for players behind it, then withers.
  • Blighted Cap: A cloud dropped in a Rotpool grows hostile and pulses damage until killed.
  • Sporeling: Small adds that hatch from settled clouds and claw at the nearest player.
Mirebound ShamblerPriority add

A fungal brute that rises from the largest Rotpool roughly once a minute.

Raid response: Hard-swap the moment it rises. It is the priority target over the boss until it drops.

Feast of DecayAdd channel

The Shambler drains a Rotpool, healing Rotmire with every tick and empowering the next Deathbloom if it completes.

Raid response: Kick on spawn per the interrupt order, and keep the order rotating for every re-channel.

SporefallRaid event

The cavern ceiling sheds choking spores across the raid; damage jumps between players standing close together.

Raid response: Spread six yards, use a planned raid cooldown, and hold the spread until the fall ends.

DeathbloomArena burst

At full energy Rotmire blooms, dealing lethal damage to every player not behind a Shieldcap.

Raid response: Split into assigned cap groups - five per cap on Mythic - and stay covered for the full channel.

The Mire Rises

Permanent ramp

After every Deathbloom the Rotpools expand, permanently shrinking dry ground.

Raid response: Re-mark cap spots as the floor shrinks and kill the boss before placement stops being possible.

Role plan

Your job in the pull

Tanks

Main tank owns breath discipline and the two-stack swap; off-tank gathers Sporelings onto the melee stack and picks the Shambler's rise point early so the raid swap is clean.

Healers

Burn Septic Wound absorbs between smashes, honor the dispel call system, and hold a raid cooldown each for Sporefall and the post-Deathbloom replant window. Rot left ticking into Deathbloom is how covered players still die.

DPS

Delivery before damage: carriers plant clouds first, everyone swaps to the Shambler on spawn, and Sporelings die to cleave, not to neglect. Boss damage is what is left over, and it is enough if the control jobs happen.

Everyone

Know your cap group like it is your interrupt order. The bog only gets smaller - every wasted cloud and every free Feast tick is borrowed time you repay at the next Deathbloom.
